Private Stock, Atomic Rooster.

Welcome to PRIVATE STOCK. Atomic Rooster was one of the greatest bands with a unique sound. It was formed by ex members of "Crazy World of Arthur Brown". The founding members were: Vincent Crane on Keyboards (the only member who played throughout the band history and wrote most of the material), Carl Palmer on Drums and Nick Graham on Bass and Vocals.
In February 1970 they released their self-titled album. Carl Palmer left the band to join Greg Lake and Keith Emerson with "Emerson, Lake and Palmer".
Atomic Rooster's style and sound is unique, check this song "Devil's Answer" you'll see what I mean.

After Palmer left Paul Hammond joined the band as the new Drummer.
The band's line up had many changes through the years. These are the former members that at one point or another were Atomic Rooster"
Vincent Crane, John DuCann, Paul Hammond, Carl Palmer, Chris Farlowe, Steve Bolton, Ric Parnell, Johnny Mandala, Pete French, Nick Graham, Preston Heyman and Bernie Torme.
They had this macabre and mysterious sound and sometimes it was very poewerfull but could be very soft as well. Check this song "A Spoonful of Bromide Helps The Pulse Rate Go Down"

Vincent Crane and Paul Hammond are no longer with us, they are resting in peace.
For those of you that want to add some Atomic Rooster to your collection these are my picks:
Atomic Rooster - 1970
Death Walks Behind You - 1970
In Hearing Of - 1971
But any compilation will be good to start with. That is all this week and to end this edition of PRIVATE STOCK enjoy "Broken Wings" .
