Private Stock, Steely Dan.

Welcome to PRIVATE STOCK. Steely Dan another great American band, was formed in the early 70's by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, they met in 1967 at Bard College in Annandale on Hudson New York and became friends, they like the same music and started to write songs together and began playing in local groups. They released their first album in 1972 "Can't Buy A Thrill". I always love the style of the band, their unique sound is very enjoyable, here lets check out "Babylon Sister"

Their influences are Jazz, Rock, funk, R&B but the way they incorporated and blending everything in addition to the lyrics which usually are stories about them or things that are going on , drugs, parties or anything else but always have some kind of humor or a touch of sarcasm.
After the success of the first album they toured until 1975 when they became a purely studio band. Here enjoy another great song, "Black Friday"

They really KICK ASS, their musical arrangements with jazz structures, harmonies, chord sequences, horns, backing vocals and some great lyrics about anything from drugs, sex, rock'n roll always with a little bit of ironic edge in it.
The band breakup in 1981 and they reunited in 1993, they still rocking and touring all over. Lets enjoy "Aja" one of my favorite songs.

They are definitely one of the greatest bands of All Time, they sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, they earned a few Grammy Awards for Album of the Year, and in 2001 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
We have been enjoying Steely Dan music since 1972 and they still rocking they were touring this year and I hear that they are working on a new album for 2010.
Here Steely Dan, check out "Don't Take Me Alive"
